A double comeback for Chokebore’s Hawaiian frontman Troy Von Balthazar, who follows up the reissue of the iconic Black Black with a soothing seventh solo album. Recorded over the course of 2024 in autarky, in his Angoulême home studio, Aloha Means Goodbye is the modest, alleviating work of an artist who has rebuilt himself through his art. Often more acoustic than electric, wandering between light and shadow, these twelve tracks are adorned with melancholy trappings but exude a comforting warmth, like a balm for flayed souls.
